Freeplane, a free, open-source software tool, supports thinking, sharing information and getting things done at home, work and school. You can use it to create mind maps (also called concept mapping or information mapping) and navigate the mapped information. Freeplane, which is a powerful and user-friendly version of Mindmeister, Xmind, and similar mind-mapping software, is also available.

Freeplane is written in Java using OSGi and Java Swing. It will work on any platform that has Java installed. It can either be used locally or from removable storage such a USB hard drive.
